Too windy

Silver gulls, Constitution dock, Hobart, Tasmania

It had been such a windy few hours just before lunch break, most of the seagulls were huddled together in groups waiting for the weather to settle.

Seagull takes a break

If I only ever was able to take seagulls at lunch time I wouldn't mind at all.
I'm so much happier at work these days knowing that I can venture out at lunch, camera at hand and take photo's of birds or other images that interest me.
I thought I would feel self conscious but I get so absorbed trying to get a good shot that I forget what else is going on around me.
Cormorant update. I left early from home and made my way to Constitution dock to see if our little guy was to be seen. I looked all around his usual haunts but didn't find him.
I did contact Parks and Wildlife, and after some time I was able to leave a message. I was pleasantly surprised (the cynic that I am) when they rang back. Unfortunately Monday was the earliest that they would be able to search for the cormorant due to the docks being busy on the weekends.
I will be very interested if anyone actually shows up on Monday to search for the bird. Till then I may visit the docks myself and see if he turns up.

far away eyes

Of the gazillion seagulls in the world I wonder how many are tagged? I wonder too what stories are to be told about this little chap.

Photo's taken at lunch time around Hobarts docklands.

On watch. 'All clear to port, Captain'!

Grainy gulls:(

Birds in flight are quite tricky to capture! I just manged to get an edge of the seagulls tail and legs in frame. Even though its out of focus I still like this image.

I took so many photo's yesterday at lunch time of the seagulls drinking from the puddles and not one came out!! Even thought they where in focus but they all where grainy. I'm not sure why but I think it's to do with the aperture. This seems to happen only when I try to use a higher resolution other than 3M. any advise? I've tried to find out information online but to no avail:(

Just pure luck capturing this gull in flight.

my little lunch time buddy

Inside of every seagull beats the heart of Joshua Livingstone Seagull!
I had the pleasure of this little guys company today at lunch. We shared a sushi roll together. I was hoping to get some shots of him in flight as I threw little bits of rice up into the air but I guess you need two people for that.
I was able to experiment my camera trying out different settings. It was a little tricky as the clouds where moving fast across the sun so I had to keep changing the aperture often.

Day One!!

After much deliberation I've decided to add another blog. I seem to be gathering quite a lot of flora and fauna pic's that I would love to share with other nature lovers out there. During my lunch break yesterday i shared a great time friends from work taking photo's of the cormorants, pacific gulls and common sea gulls. These birds come to rest, eat and play just a short walk from the office. We where even tantalized by a brief glimpse of a seal!!
